In Memoriam
Our cancer research is dedicated to Dr. Wenqiu Liu, who died of triple negative breast cancer at the age of 57.
Wenqiu trained as a synthetic organic chemist, and had a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY. Her main research interests were in the areas of conjugation chemistry, process chemistry, biosensors and nanotechnology. Her research focused on design and synthesis of nanoparticles with functionality for applications in immunology and molecular biology areas; development of conjugation protocols to label proteins and nucleic acids; as well as development of different detection techniques.
She was involved in the development and release of our new products such as Ni-NTA-Nanogold, FluoroNanogold and GoldEnhance. She synthesized gold particle-attached nucleotides and other small organic precursors. She was last investigating a new detection technique involving enzyme-catalyzed metal deposition.
Wenqiu was a key member of our team for many good years, refining processes, managing our production with an unerring eye for quality, and helped bring many products to market. Her work refining our nanoparticle products was an incredible support to our own cancer research, and continues to contribute greatly to the research community as a whole.
We are honored to have been able to collaborate with such a great mind and personality for so many years. We miss her.
